Patanol Information
Uses
Patanol is an antihistamine used to prevent itching
of the eyes due to allergies.
How To Use
Follow the directions for using Patanol provided
by your doctor. TO USE PATANOL, first, wash your
hands. Tilt your head back and, with your index finger,
pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch.
Drop the medicine into the pouch and gently close your
eyes. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a
clean tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash
your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them.
TO PREVENT GERMS from entering your medicine, do not
touch the applicator tip to any surface, including your
eye. STORE PATANOL at room temperature in a tightly-closed
container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE
OF PATANOL, use it as soon as possible. If it
is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not
use 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include
headache, mild stinging or burning, eye pain, dryness
of the eye, redness in the eye, or tearing. If they
continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact
your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Precautions
PATANOL MAY CAUSE mild stinging or burning when
you first put it in your eye. Contact your doctor if
the stinging continues. DO NOT USE PATANOL for
a longer period of time than your doctor prescribed.
DO NOT USE PATANOL for future eye problems without
first checking with your doctor. WAIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES
AFTER USING PATANOL before wearing contact lenses.
FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss
with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Patanol during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF PATANOL
IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING
while you are using Patanol, check with your doctor
or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison
control center or emergency room immediately. Patanol
may be harmful if swallowed.

not prescribed. DO NOT USE PATANOL for other health
conditions. KEEP PATANOL out of the reach of children.
