Uses
Effexor XR is used to treat depression.
How To Use
How much Effexor XR you take and how often you take it
depends on many factors, including the condition being
treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you
have any questions about the amount and/or frequency
of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health
care provider. Swallow capsules whole. Do not chew,
crush, divide, or place the capsule in water before
taking. This medication may lessen your ability to judge,
think, or handle complex motor skills. Use caution when
driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness,
coordination, or physical dexterity. Dizziness or lightheadedness
can occur when rising from a seated or lying position.
If this occurs, sit or lie down and avoid sudden changes
in posture. Notify your doctor if a rash, hives or any
sign of allergy develops. Avoid alcohol while taking
Effexor XR. Have your blood pressure checked regularly.
Do not stop taking Effexor XR suddenly. The stopping
of using Effexor XR should be done gradually. At
least 14 days should pass between stopping the use of
a monoamine oxidase inhibitor and the starting of Effexor XR. In addition, at least 7 days should pass after
stopping Effexor XR before starting a monoamine oxidase
inhibitor. Do not take more medicine than prescribed
unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care
provider. Patients with previous medical conditions
should talk with their health care provider before taking
Effexor XR. Do not take any other over-the-counter
or prescription medicines without talking with your
doctor.
Side Effects
Every medicine can cause side effects, but many people
have no, or minor, side effects. Tell your doctor or
pharmacist if any of the following occurs: Seizure.
Nausea; drowsiness; dizziness. Chest pain; fast heartbeat;
itching; decreased sex drive; agitation;confusion; abnormal
thinking; personality changes; depression; impaired
urination;twitching; menstrual disorder; impotence;
headache; dry mouth; sleeplessness;constipation; nervousness;
weakness; sweating; abnormal ejaculation/orgasm;appetite/weight
loss; diarrhea; anxiety; blurred vision; vomiting; shakiness;abnormal
dreams; chills; sore throat; indigestion; gas; muscle
stiffness;abnormal skin sensations; mood changes; flushing;
rash; yawn; taste change;ringing in the ears.
Precautions
Before using Effexor XR, tell your health care provider
about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan
on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking
or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription
medicine; if you have any other medical condition
Overdose
Call doctor or pharmacist immediately.

If you have any questions about your medicine, please
talk with your doctor, pharmacist, or health care provider.
Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If
several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for
the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless
advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed,
contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Store capsules between 68 to 77 degrees F. Protect from
